Henry G. Kinzie, whose death occurred at the home in Avoca Sunday, February 11, 1917, was born in Princeton, West Virginia, July 31, 1830. Being at the time of his death eighty-six years and some months old. Mr. Kinzie was married twice, first marriage took place September 9, 1849, to Miss Martha Anderson. To this union six children were born, three sons died while young and one son, George, was killed in a railway accident November 10, 1870. The remaining children are: Charles, a railroad conductor, residing in Richland Center; Homer, of Winona, Minn., also a conductor, Mrs. Dewitt Post, of Barron, Wisconsin, and Mrs. William Stanley, of Washington, who were all present for the funeral with the exception of Mrs. Stanley. The second marriage occurred January 31, 1864, to Miss Rebecca Duford. There were no children by the last marriage. Mr. Kinzie while young moved with his parents to Chicago, from there to Indiana. When twenty one years old he came to Wisconsin locating near Richland City and thence to Pulaski whee he has lived the greater part of his life. His father, William Kinzie, was a son of John Kinzie of Fort Dearborn, Chicago. Mr. Kinzie spent some of his minor years at the Fort with his parents. He has been in failing health for sevral years. But his faithful wife who still survives him, was ever ready to minister to his care and she is now left alone, will surely miss him. Besides his widow and children he leaves ten grand children, sixteen great grandchildren and many firends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 13, from the M.E. church and burial in the Avoca cemetery. Rev. Nixon officiated at the services and he preached a most true touching sermon. The choir consisting of the Avoca quartette, Principal Barrett organist.
