Jay Charles "JC" was born to Amel Lee and Cora Belle Maycumber (both are buried at Roscoe Cemetery in Fairview Oklahoma).He attended school at Fairview and married Mary Lee Francis on February 1, 1947. He was in the U S Air Force 24 years and 5 months. He was stationed many places during his career including Africa and Bermuda as well as other cities in the United States. He retired at Castle Air Force Base near Atwater California.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday October 18, 2001 in the Winton District Cemetery under the direction of Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home in Atwater. Mr. Judge Brown officiated and also members of the Merced County VFW Honor Guard from Post No. 7792 were in attendance.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lee of Winton; 2 daughters Betty Klocker and Mrs. Mitch (Norma) Mahurin; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
