Son of William Flint who died at Sea in 1812 & Temperance Humphries. Died in Canada and buried there. Unknown where he is buried.

Joseph H. Flint was born in Maryland and was four years of age when taken to Indiana by his parents. There he was reared and mentally trained, and afterward engaged in teaching school.

He became the minister of the Baptist Church and followed that vocation nearly all his life. He moved to Iowa during the winter 0f 1841~1842 and lived in Fairfield. He then moved to Locust Grove Twp; where he remained until the Spring of 1843, when he located in Wapello County. He took up claim half a mile from Eldon, in Washington Twp. there he resided until his death May 22, 1871. (He died in Canada) Biography is not totally correct.

He married Rebecca Abraham who was born in Butler, County Ohio and they raised the following children; Isaac and William of Jefferson county Iowa; Wilson F. who lives in Texas; Rebecca wife of Edward E. Thompson of California and Susanna; wife of Z.T. Knight of Washington Twp.

He was a Democrat in politics and was elected to the State Legislature from Wapello, Jefferson, and Van Buren Counties in 1846. He was Wapello county judge from 1858~1862 serving in that capacity for two terms.
