Rites Today For Retired Teacher

Funeral services will be held today for Virginia R. Seely, a retired Los Gatos teacher, who came from a long line of teachers.

Miss Seely, 62, died Wednesday in a convalescent home where she had been for the past year following a bad fall. She had been living with her mother, Mrs. Bertha R. Seely, at 140 Euclid Ave., Los Gatos.

Miss Seely's mother was a long-time principal of Saratoga Grammar School, with some 30 years teaching behind her when she retired in the 1940s. Of Mrs. Seely's 14 brothers and sisters seven were teachers.

Miss Seely taught elementary school for about 15 years in Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, San Francisco, Kern County and San Simeon. At one time she taught Indian children near Yosemite National Park. She retired in 1960.

She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Los Gatos.

The teacher is survived by her mother, Mrs. Bertha Seely, and two brothers, Edwin E. Seely Jr. of Arizona and Donald R. Seely of Los Gatos.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. in Oak Hill Mortuary's Chapel of Roses. Interment will be in Oak Hill Memorial Park for burial.

Seely, Jr. of Bullhead City, Arizona, Mr. Donald R. Seely of Los Gatos, dear aunt of Michael E. Seely of San Jose. A native of California age 62 years.

Funeral services Friday, July 26, 1974, at 1:30 p.m. from Oak Hill Mortuary's Chapel of Roses, 300 Curtner Ave., San Jose. Interment Oak Hill Memorial Park.
