Private family interment is planned under the direction of Autumn Funerals and Cremations of Tigard.

Mrs. Taylor died in a car wreck in Tigard on Sunday, March 12, 2006. She was 56.

Born in Basim, India, on Sept. 22, 1949, she was the daughter of Gillette Franklin and Mary (Cook) Vandegrift. As the child of missionaries, she attended various Indian boarding schools before graduating from Kodaikanal International School in 1966. She went on to attend Simpson Bible College and other community colleges in California.

She married Jimmie Taylor on May 19, 1969, in Glendale, Calif. The couple moved to Oregon in 1978.

In the early years, she worked as a homemaker, while also performing various part-time jobs at the schools and churches her family attended.

Mrs. Taylor began working on the circulation desk at the McMinnville Public Library in 1998. "She loved her job and the people that she got to talk to," her family said.

She was a member of Calvary Chapel for 15 years. She enjoyed reading, camping, gardening and playing with her wonderful grandsons.

"She loved music, theater and studying the Bible," her family said. "She loved the Lord and sharing him with people. She lived her life as a testimony of God's love, grace and forgiveness,"

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Gillette of McMinnville; a daughter, Erin Johnson of McMinnville; a sister, Mary Wendt of Victoria, B.C.; and two grandsons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shannon. Contributions may be made to McMinnville's Friends of the Library, 225 N.W. Adams St., McMinnville, OR 97128.
