HAMILTON - Emma M. Baker, 106, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening at Valley View Estates. She was born Aug. 12, 1893, in Saginaw, Mich., the daughter of the late Daniel and Debra Schad. She moved with her family at age 13 to eastern Montana, where her parents homesteaded.
Emma married Robert "Bert" Baker in 1913 in Glasgow. The couple farmed for several years. Bert preceded her in death in 1935. Emma later moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, to live near her son Kenneth. In October 1993 she moved to Hamilton to live with her daughter Laura. Emma enjoyed her family. She also enjoyed cooking, fishing and walking.
She was also preceded in death by three sons, Earl, Kenneth and Robert Jr., two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include daughters Eunice Johnson of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Dorothy Riddle of Hesperia, Calif., and Laura Instness of Hamilton; sons Richard and Donald, both of Bonners Ferry; 19 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren
A service to celebrate her life will be Monday, Aug. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton with the Rev. Muriel Gooder officiating. Interment will be at the Southside Cemetery in Froid.
