Funeral services for Mrs. Susie Annetta Shelton 85 year old former Eakly resident were held graveside in the Eakly Cemetery on Friday morning December 6 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Darryl Moore. Burial was under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home Weatherford OKLA. Mrs. Shelton was born at Morganville Kansas on Dec 11 1899 and died at Bakerfield California on Monday after an extended illness. She moved to Eakly as a young child and grew up in Caddo County. She was married to Rily V. Shelton on Feb. 2 1921 and had been employed by C & L Mercantile Store in Eakly, also at the Eakly CO-OP as a bookkeeper and had been a cotton broker on her own for a number of years. Mrs. Shelton had een a licensed vocational nurse at the Hinton Hospital for a short time. Mr. Shelton preceded her in death on Aug. 15 1968 and she continued to reside in Eakly and later moved to Weatherford for a number of years. She had made her home in Bakersfield CAL. Since 1978, was a member of the World War Widows of CAL. And Past Members of the Rebekahs of the Alfalfa Lodge. She was also a member of the Eakly Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Woodrow (Mildred) McLemore, Bakersfield CAL., and one son Mr. Jack Shelton Las Vegas, NEV. 4 grandchildren and 2 great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews.
