LORE _ Robert Zenas September 4, 1923 - June 12, 2008 Robert Zenas Lore, dearly beloved husband, father, and family member passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Thursday, June 12, 2008 after a courageous struggle with several illnesses. Bob's family has always been a great pride and joy in his life, and he will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Gertrude of fifty-six years, as well as his son Greg Lore, daughter Luann Horobin, daughter Donna (Pete) Dumond, and daughter Lida (Wade) Blizard and grandchildren Jeffrey, Stephen, Kristin, Ryan, Kurtis, and Tiffany, Jennifer and Kristen Blizard; as well as siblings and families including his sister Mary, brother Sid (Nora), brother Jim (June), and sister-in-law Audrey. Bob was predeceased by his brother Bill. Bob's very active life was very dedicated to his wife Gertrude, raising their family together, enjoying their grandchildren and sharing stories over family dinners. As a farmer, rancher and community contributor, Bob initiated many community projects and facilities that are still enjoyed today. He will always be respected and remembered for his fairness, ethics, and genuine passion for life, right up to his days at Father Lacombe Care Centre where he was known as "Dancer Bob and Cowboy Bob". Bob loved long walks in Fish Creek Park, baseball with family, dancing and social events, all forms of music, playing crib, and during the latter part of his life took great pride in creating his memoirs, entitled "Time Out with R.Z." As a role model of his philosophy "never give up", Bob naturally brought many gifts to all he knew. The family wants to extend their deep and sincere appreciation for the many caregivers who provided outstanding care and comfort to him, including Dr. Roode, Dr. Calder, the staff of Unit 82 at the Rockyview Hospital, all of the staff who consistently went above the call of duty at Father Lacombe Care Centre, as well as the many other private caregivers who helped Dad every day. A private family Service has been arranged on Father's Day. Friends and family are warmly invited to a memorial celebration of life on Friday, June 27 from 1:30 - 4:00 p.m. held at the Royal Canadian Legion Centennial Calgary Branch No. 285, 9202 Horton Road S.W. In lieu of flowers donations to Father Lacombe Care Centre (332 - 146 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2X 2A3, Telephone 256-4641) or another charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
