Mark W. Irwin
Mark W. Irwin, aged 73 years, 10 months, 3 days, died last Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at his home in old Stroud after a couple weeks illness. He has lived in this vicinity for the past eight years and at old Stroud for the past four years and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. Mr. Irwin was born in Washington County, Tenn., May 25, 1828. He enlisted in Co. H. 4th Reg't., Tenn. Vol. Cav., on Feb. 12, and served 2 years and 4 months. He united with the Floral, Kansas, Baptist church 30 years ago and was always true and conscientious Christian and respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and eight children to mourn their loss, of which are Mrs. Warmouth, of Oregon, Mrs. Sampson Dye, of Jacksonville, Ill., Mrs. Anderson, of Coyle, Okla., Mrs. Diehl, of Joplin, Mo., Mrs. Howard, of Cali., Mrs. Robt. Tice, of this city and Wm. Irwin, of Lynn county, Kansas, and Geo. Irwin, of this city. Services were conducted from his residence at old Stroud, Sunday afternoon by Rev. Rundel, of Baker, and the remains were followed to their last resting place in the Black cemetery seven miles northwest of town by a large concourse of sorrowing friends.
