DAVIS J. CABLE, one of Lima's foremost lawyers and financiers, died Sunday May 13th at his country home, Springside farm, after an illness of six months.
Mr. Cable was born in Van Wert-co, near Van Wert, Aug. 11, 1859, the son of Mr. and Mrs. JOHN L. CABLE. He Attended the Van Wert schools and later attended the University of Michigan for a term and then took up the study of law.

He came to Lima in 1880, finished his studies in the law offices of IRA LONGSWORTH and the late S. S. WHEELER and was admitted to the bar in that year. While his financial and business connections required a great deal of his time, he continued his law practice until the time of his last illness, being senior member of the law firm of CABLE & CABLE, his two sons, JOHN L. AND CHESTER M., being junior members.

Mr. CABLE was married in 1881 to Miss MARY HARNLEY of Van Wert, who survives him. To the union were born six children, four sons and two daughters. They are JOHN L., congressman, now at Washington; DAVIS A., of Canton; CHESTER M., Lima; JOE H., Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. J. R. MCCABE, Tulsa, Okla.; and Miss MARIAN, at home.

Mr. CABLE is also survived by his mother, who resides at Van Wert, and two sisters, Mrs. C. S. HOUGH, Miami, Fla., and Mrs. E. M. TOLAN, Van Wert.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity M. E. church, Rev. C. A. ROWAND officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
