Jean L. Nugent age 62 of Ithaca passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the U.W. Hospital in Madison. Jean was born the daughter of Charles R. and Eva (Staskal) King on April 7, 1946 in Boscobel, WI.

On August 6, 1966 she married her high school sweetheart, Bob Nugent, in Boscobel, WI. Jean had a lifelong career in Education. She earned an Associates Degree in Elementary Education from Richland County Teachers College in 1966, a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UW-Platteville in 1970, and a Master's Degree in Special Education from UW-LaCrosse in 1985. Jean Began her teaching career in Highland, WI as a reading specialist in 1966.

After teaching 3 years in Highland, Jean started a family and worked as a substitute teacher. She returned to education by working for CESA 3 in Fennimore for 5 years. In August 1978 Jean began working as a Special Education Teacher for the Ithaca School District. She taught there 26 years until her retirement in 2005. During her teaching career Jean supported her students by attending school events, coaching a variety of activities and volunteering to take on additional responsibilities.

In 2005 Jean started a tutoring business she ran until present. Jean's dedication to quality education helped many students begin their successful journey through life. Jean was also an accomplished artist, seamstress and craftswoman. She was a member of the Blake-Semrod Legion Auxiliary of Boscobel. Jean was a wonderful Wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her children and eleven grandchildren. She was a caring, kind and thoughtful person who enjoyed life. She will be missed a great deal.

Survivors include: her husband, Bob Nugent of Ithaca, 2 sons, Colin (Stephanie) Nugent of Pell Lake, Cory Nugent of Richland Center, 2 daughters, Barb (Nathan) Olson of Richland Center, and Lisa (Sean) Adkins of Fennimore, 11 grandchildren, Benjamin, Bradley, Caitlynn, Bryan and Andrew Nugent, all of Pell Lake, Brandon, Zachary, Jacob, Alexis and Mason Adkins, all of Fennimore, Logan Olson of Richland Center, a sister, Cathy Sperl of Tavernier, FL, a brother, Chuck (Donna) King of Boscobel, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Charles R. and Eva King.

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 479 South Park St., Richland Center, WI. Rev. Kenneth Halstead officiated. Burial was held at the Boscobel Cemetery on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 4:00 P.M.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Stafford Funeral Home in Richland Center from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A visitation will also be held at St. John's Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the funeral service.

The Stafford Funeral Home of Richland Center assisted the family with their arrangements.
