Andy Lewis, 87, of Crow Flat, passed away Sept. 13, 2008, at Carlsbad Medical Center in Carlsbad.
Andy was born April 9, 1921, in Cienega to David C. and Emma (Coffelt) Lewis. He attended school in Cienega. Andy served his country during World War II in the Navy. He married Nora Lea Lewis July 7, 1949, in Carlsbad. Andy, his brother and their families left Crow Flat and bought a ranch in Sallisaw, Okla., because Crow Flat was used as a bombing range. They returned to Crow Flat after the area was released from the government, and he has resided there until now. Andy ranched and drove a school bus for many years and was a talented fiddle player.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Clark Lewis, grandson Cody Scarbrough, son-in-law Williard Myers, two brothers and six sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nora Lea; son Kearney Lewis and wife, Krista, of Artesia; two daughters, Janet Myers, of Crow Flat, and Kay Scarbrough and husband Gary, of Sierra Blanca, Texas; daughter-in-law Dorothy Lewis, of Crow Flat; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Kincaid, of Carlsbad.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Dell City, Texas.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Dell City, Texas, with Pastor Randy Rakes officiating.
Pallbearers are Scott Lewis, Travis Lewis, Tyler Harris, Trevor Harris, Ande Lea Miller, Vayle Scorbrough and G. R. Walden. Honorary pallbearers are Pop Snow, Gaston Lewis, Pat Lewis, Fritz Jones, Clifton Dean, Wayne Lewis, Jesse Jones Lewis, Leslie Lewis, Wilson Lewis and many other family and friends.
Interment will follow at Cienega Cemetery, Cienega.
