Virginia Alta Bahr, age 88, died peacefully at home on May 9, 2005. She was born December 22, 1916, the daughter of Bud and Ella (Snyder) Dax.

Virginia graduated from Avoca High School in 1935.

Virginia married Leland Bahr on November 11, 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1993.

They farmed together and raised their four children, and Virginia remained on the farm until her death.

She spent many hours tending her garden, the cattle and chickens. Her favorite pastimes were walking in the woods and fishing.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Avoca, and of the Ladies' Aid.

Survivors include their children: Bob (Jan) Bahr, Bill (Pat) Bahr, Susie (Jerome) Bischoff, Joan (John) Hornall of the Avoca area, seven grandchildren: Renee Bischoff (fiance' Jeremy Bergeron), Angie (Jason) Kollath, Carie Bahr (Matt Cihlar), Mindy (Brad) Kratochwill, Bobbie (Ryan) Ahnen, Billy Bahr and Allen Horn, two great granddaughters: Jamie and Jordan Kratochwill and another great grandchild due in July.

She is further suvived by one brother: JB (Eileen) Dax of Highland. three sisters in law: Alice Dax of Muscoda, Ruth Bahr of Avoca, and Jeane (Pete) Bach of Madison, a special niece Betty Hill of Portage as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends

Virginia was preceded in death by her sisters: Helen (John) Kline, Norma (Tom) Pechan, Eleanor (Milo) McIntosh and her brother Norbert Dax.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 12, 2005 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Avoca with Pastor Steven C. Schneider officiating.

Burial was held at the Avoca Cemetery.

Friends called at the Godager Funeral Home in Muscoda on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 from 4 PM until 7 PM.

Friends also called on Thursday, May 12, 2005, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Avoca from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM.

The Godager Funeral Home of Muscoda assisted the family with their arrangements.
