He married Mary Kempf September 10, 1918 in Beaver City, Nebraska. They were blessed with two children, Richard and Wilda. They were married nearly 77 years.
They lived in Superior, Nebraska and the Olive Hill area of Jewel County Kansas for several years. After leaving Nebraska they moved to Seattle, Washington. There he worked for and retired from Todd Shipyards. After his retirement they moved to Silverton, Oregon. Then to the Towers Retirement Center in Mr. Angel.
He was physically very active and enjoyed his life with his family, friends and church. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, and always had a large garden. They spent many winters in Niland, California, enjoying the desert heat and sunshine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
He leaves his wife Mary of Mt. Angel, son Richard of Portland, and daughter Wilda Marler of Crescent City, California, five grandchildren and great grandchildren and many friends. He will be sadly missed by them all.
