She was born Feb. 1, 1916, in Bartonville to Thomas and Lillian (Heim) Mattocks. She married Merle G. Hallar on Sept. 29, 1934, in Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 29, 1980; a son, Carl; a great-granddaughter, Kaila; and one brother, Kenneth Mattocks.
Surviving are one daughter, Virginia Kime of Pekin; and two sisters, Amy Herren and Margaret (Donald) Ritchie, both of Pekin.
Evelyn worked for S.S. Kresge Company for 40 years, retiring from the Pekin Kmart in 1986.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin, where she was active in the Ladies Missionary Society.
Evelyn enjoyed crossword puzzles, jig-saw puzzles, video games, bowling, crocheting and doing cross stitch. She was a Chicago Cubs baseball fan.
Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
