Walter Koch, 64, of rural Muscoda died Friday, May 11, 2007 at his home. He was born June 9, 1942 in Petersburg, Nebraska the son of Alfred and Hilda (Klein) Koch.

On July 14, 1962 Walter married Mary Ann Velder in Lamont, IA. Together they farmed in Iowa and Wisconsin until Walter began his battle with cancer 5 years ago.

Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses, and, motorcycles. He also enjoyed John Deere's, driving them and collecting memorabilia.

Walter is survived by his wife Mary Ann Koch of Muscoda, six children, Rosie (Brian) Franzen of Maquoketa, IA, Kris (Alan) Massman of Mount Horeb, Rick (Casey) Koch of LaValle, Ken Koch of Muscoda, Barb (Steve Harlen) Koch of Avoca, Russ (Jenny) Koch of Muscoda, mother, Hilda Koch of Richland Center, 23 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Carolyn (Joe) Greiner of Independence, IA, Donna (Joe) Fleming of Volga, IA, special aunt Marie Lloyd of Des Moines, IA, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Walter was preceded in death by his father, three sons Ron, Tom, Terry, brother Robert Koch, and three grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, May 14, 2007 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Muscoda with Father Rob Butz officiating. Burial was held at 3:00 PM at St. Albert's Catholic Cemetery in Lamont, IA.

Friends called at the Godager Funeral Home on Sunday, May 13, 2007 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, where a parish rosary was held at 4:00 PM. Friends also called on Monday, May 14, 2007 at St. John the Baptist Cathloic Church from 9:00 AM until the time of the mass at 10:00 AM.

The Godager Funeral Home of Muscoda assisted the family with their arrangements.
