PIONEER ANSWERS TO CALL OF DEATH
(From Saturday's Daily)

After an illness of nine weeks, John Selman died at his home at the corner of Elm street and Calumet avenue last night at 9:30. Mr. Selman's first affliction was neuritis. This was later complicated with other ailments.

Plans have been made for the funeral service Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at St. Clair schoolhouse, in the community where Mr. Selman passed most of his life.

Mr. Selman was born in Germany, and came to this country at the age of seven years. He became a posperous farmer, and was prominent in the activities of the Hughart settlement northwest of here. Two years ago he retired and moved to this city.

Mrs. Selman survives, and the following children, who are given in the order of their ages: Mrs. Ella Wheeler, of this city; E. C. Selman, residing near here on a farm; Mrs. Lizzie David, of Rochester, Ind.; Mrs. Lottie Freeman, of Valparaiso; Mrs. Ida Cool, of Joliet, Ill.; Roy Selman, a local farmer; Mrs. Lillian Stafford and Mrs. Nellie Coutts, both of Joliet, and Mrs. Olive Foreman, of this city.

Stephen Selman, confined in the Christian hospital with injuries sustained some weeks ago, is a brother of the deceased, and Mrs. Minnie Fitz, of Wanatah; Mrs. Amelia Arnold, of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Augusta Schultz, of Dallas, Tex., are sisters.
