Carterville – Eliza Jane [Parish] Rushing, 75 years, 2 month, 22 days, died at home on Wednesday, Jul. 26, 1922 from Paralysis and Gastritis ..She was born May 4, 1847, 6 miles SE of Carterville, Williamson County, IL , the daughter of John and Martha [Flye] Parish.

Eliza married Lavender Troy Rushing of Benton Tennessee on November 16, 1865, in Union County, IL.

Survivors include her husband, Troy Rushing, and 3 children, one son, John Luther Rushing & his wife Ella [Hale], two daughters, Mary Alice [Rushing]& husband, John Wesley Armstrong, Oda S [Rushing]& husband, George Ogden, son-in-law, Charles Hillery Dorris, her mother, Martha E [Flye]Parish, her brother, Jackson William "JW" Parrish and 26 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Parish, her son, William Rollie Rushing, her daughter, Anna Daisy [Rushing] Dorris, her sister, Sarah Ann Parrish, brother, John Parrish Jr, and ½ brother William Archie Howell.

Eliza was a lifelong resident of Southern Illinois, a housewife and mother. She was a of the Christian faith, attending Cottage Home Church where the funeral service was held, with Reverend J.W. McKinney officiating the services. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Williamson County, IL
