Enlisted on 10/1/1861 at Camp Lee, KY as a Private; On 12/17/1861 mustered into Co. A, 16th Kentucky Infantry, US for 3 years; Re-enlisted on 1/1/1864 for another 3 years at Mossy Creek, TN by Lt. Hutchins; Died of wounds received during the Battle of Resaca, GA on 5/14/1864 (bullet fracture of thigh, middle third; fracture of femur; Amputated upper third; died same day). His regiment was part of the 23rd Army Corps, 3rd Division of the Army of the Ohio. He is buried in the Cattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, TN; Section K, Site 10129.
