He was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Bushton, a son of John and Bertha Bird Adams. He married Wanda Anderson Nov. 27, 1947 in Charleston; she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Riley Adams and wife Lisa and Tracy Adams, all of Springfield; one brother, Richard Adams of Michigan; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Kelly; two brothers, Marvin and Orville and three sisters, Lillian, Marie, and Ruth.
Mr. Adams was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Burma, India. He received four Overseas Service Bars, an Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, a Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal.
He was a telegraphy operator for CIPS, Channel 3 TV and the Illinois State Police.
