Born in MO, Ruby I. was the daughter of Ada Frances Ziegler and Reuben Gentry Snethen, Jr. She married Charles Alexander Richmond circa 1916 and the couple made their home in Alton, Madison, IL. Ida Richmond's mother-in-law, Sarah K. Richmond age 80, lived with the couple in 1930. Ida (Snethen) Richmond was only 34 and the mother of eight children when she died. She rests in Melville Congregational Church Cemetery, Godfrey, IL, between her in-laws, Alexander Richmond (1844-1923) and Sarah C. Richmond (1850-1936).

Mrs. Ruby I. Richmond, wife of Charles Richmond, died this morning at 1:30 o'clock, after a long illness, at the family home, 3113 Belle street. Mrs. Richmond, who was 34 years of age, is survived by six daughters, Venetie, Catherine, Prudence, Agnes, Goldie and Mabel, and two sons, Charles and Edwin.
Mrs. Richmond also leave her father, Rueben Smethen [sic] and a brother, James Smethen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday … at the Klunk funeral home, and burial will be in Melville cemetery. Friends may view the body at the Klunk home after 5 o'clock this afternoon.
