Selma Lenore VanMeter Williams was born January 15, 1886, in Floyd County, Kentucky. Her parents were Sylvester and Anna VanMeter.

Selma was married to Charles Theodore Williams on August 24, 1908 in the Highland County court house, Hillsboro, Ohio, by probate judge T.M. Watts. Charles (b. 3/22/1887- d. 5/14/1945) was the son of John Williams and Sloma Hibbs.

Selma and Charles's children included:

Denver Wilson Williams (married Mabel Mae Boyd)
Monica "Bootie" Williams Rivers (married Willard Rivers; twin sister of Jay)
Jay Williams (died in a motorcycle accident while home on leave from the military; never married; twin brother of Monica)
Ann Williams Handley (married to George Handley)
