FRIEND, Peggy I. of Enon, OH passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2008. Born on Sept. 03, 1924 in West Liberty, KY, she was 83 years old. In over 50 years residency in Enon, Peggy was devoted to her husband and six children. She was active in community service activities and was a long-time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Enon VFW Post 8437. She owned and operated a home-based business, Friends Lettering, for over 30 years. She is best known in the community for the beautiful flower gardens which she created around her home giving color and beauty to all who passed by. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Friend, her son, Charles W. Friend, Jr. and daughter, Sandra K. Friend. She is survived by her four children: Helen (Tony) Southall of Columbus OH, Mary Sue (Charlie) Friend of Phoenix AZ, EDlene (Bob) Flannery of San Diego CA and Paul (Cindy) Friend of Gainesville VA; her eight grandchildren: Kristin Koliha, Kenneth Flannery, William Flannery, Charles C. Friend and Ashley, Jake, Walter and Brittany Gerring: and eight great-grandchildren. Friends will be received on Friday, Aug. 1 from 10-12 am at Burcham Funeral Home, 119 East Main St., Fairborn, OH. Funeral services will follow at noon and burial will be at the Enon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Enon VFW Post 8437, 5075 Enon-Xenia Road, Fairborn OH, 45324 or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, Texas 75244.
