Clarence H. Appleby, 94, formerly of Hustontown, died at 4:24 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2001 at Caledonia Manor in Fayetteville. Born March 3, 1907 in Dublin Township, Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late James and Jane (Henry) Appleby. He was married to Vera I. Locke on October 29, 1936. She preceded him in death October 25, 1992.
Surviving are four children: Donald L. Appleby and Larry R. Appleby; both of Greencastle; Clarence Terry Appleby, Hustontown; and Sandra K. Cisney, Rockhill Furnace; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Laura Covert and Priscilla Fraker and three brothers: Bruce, Charles and John Appleby.
He was a member of Clear Ridge United Methodist Church in Hustontown; a member of the former IOOF Lodge of Hustontown and was a Boy Scout leader in Hustontown. He was also a former director of the Northern Fulton Burial Association and a member of the Hustontown Fire Company.
He had worked as a coal miner, farmer, logger and retired from Penn-DOT after eight years service.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20 at the M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown. Burial was made at the Hustontown Cemetery.
