Mrs. Hattie Frank Smith Adams, 83, of Boyle, the widow of Dr. J. E. Adams, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bolivar County Hospital in Cleveland after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Boyle Baptist Church. Rev. Ernest Sadler officiated. Burial was in the New Cleveland Cemetery in Cleveland, with Thweatt King Funeral Home of Cleveland in charge.

Mrs. Adams was born in Gloster. She attended school in Gloster and I. I. and C (now Mississippi University for Women). She went to Skene to teach school and married Dr. J. E. Adams. She had lived in Boyle for 66 years. Dr. Adams preceded her in death on February 29, 1956. She was a member of the Boyle Baptist Church.

Survivors are her daughter, Mrs. Billy F. (Mary Ann) Flowers of Winona; her sister, Mrs. J. H. Higgs of Pearl River, La.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family has suggested that memorials may be made to the Boyle Baptist Church Building Fund.

Pallbearers were W. M. Thomas, Bryn Bright, Brown Ryle, Roby Prevost, Robert Walker and Joseph A. McFay.
