EDWARD F.L. RAUTENBERG PASSED AWAY SATURDAY

Edward F.L. Rautenberg, an influential resident of this city and active in local affairs previous to his lengthy illness, passed away at 7;40 o'clock Saturday evening at his home at 325 Peoria street. His death followed an illness extending over the past ten years, the majority of which time he had been bedfast.
Mr. Rautenberg was born in Westphalia, Germany, May 13, 1848 and died at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 13 days. He came to this country in 1857 (History of Logan Co., stated came in 1867) and was married in Lincoln, Nov. 6, 1873 to Miss Emilie Boy. The latter passed away a number of years ago. (The history of Logan Co. 1878, stated he married Emilie on Oct. 6, 1873?)
The following eight children survive: Mrs. Amalia Allison, Lincoln; F.A. Rautenberg, Jacksonville, Fla.; A.T. Rautenberg, Seattle, Wash.; Edward Rautenberg, Chicago; O.W. Rautenberg, Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. Pauline Cutler, Central Village, Conn.; Misses Clara M. and Nelda at home. He also leaves two grandsons.
Mr. Rautenberg was active in this city as a lodgeman previous to his illness, holding memberships in the Odd Fellows, Elks, R.A.M. Knights Templar and No. 210 A.F. & A.M. Up to the time of his illness he was in the insurance business in this city for many years and previously served as circuit clerk. He was a charter member of the local Elks lodge.
The funeral will take place at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning from the chapel at the Sheets Home, with Rev. E.A. Moore of Grand Haven, Mich., former pastor of the local Trinity Episcopal church, in charge. Burial will be made in Union cemetery.
Mrs. Cutler and Edward Rautenberg have arrived in the city to attend the funeral of their father.

E.F.L. RAUTENBERG'S FUNERAL HERE TODAY

Relatives and friends assembled at the Sheets funeral home at 10 o'clock this morning, for the funeral of the late Edward F.L. Rautenberg whose death occurred Saturday night at his home on Peoria street.
Rev. Everett A. Moore of Grand Haven, Mich., former pastor of the Trinity Episcopal church, had charge of the services and burial was made in Union cemetery. The following served as pallbearers: Roy Weaver, Edward Rautenberg, Charles Gehlbach, Richard Georgi, F.W. Becker, and James E. Hoblit.
Mr. Rautenberg was a member of the Odd Fellows, Elks and various branches of the Masonic lodges and all organizations were represented at the funeral.
In the History of Logan Co. Pub. 1878 it stated that Mr. Rautenberg went to Lincoln university for 3 months to learn English and then was employed as a clerk for Frorer's hardware and then took a position with the Dustin's bank as a bookkeeper, he then worked for G.W. Parker in the insurance business and was a teller at the First National Bank in Lincoln. He became Deputy Circuit Clerk at the time of the publishing of the history in 1878.
