John Adam Zastawny, born 8/12/26 in Jersey City, NJ and departed this life 8/26/08 at his home in Reno, NV. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Survived by his devoted wife, Edna L. Zastawny, five daughters, two sons, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Dad was a successful surveyor such as the Hartwell Dam Project in South Carolina, a gold miner and mine owner, a restaurateur with several restaurants in Southern California and a hotel casino owner and operator of the historical Austin Hotel, in Austin, NV.

He was also a member of the Volunteer Fire Department and Search and Rescue., a life member of both VFW Post 9065 and American Legion Post 45. He was a decorated Staff Sergeant with numerous medals and ribbons in both the South Pacific and European Campaign. He had a love of pets, flowers and plants, and was gifted with a green thumb. He loved good food and drink of all ethnic origins and he was loved very much.

John will be inurned with Military Services on September 9, 2008 at 2:30 PM at Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery, Fernley, NV. Arrangements are being handled by Walton Funeral Home in Reno.
