Pembrook H. Branen was born in Linn County, Iowa, October 6, 1846 and died at his home in Perry, Oklahoma, Friday evening, September 13, 1918, after a period of the most patient and Christ like suffering. At the age of fourteen he moved from Linn County, Iowa to Warren County, Iowa where he resided until 1890 and to Perry about five years ago where he resided until the time of his death. Brother Branen was united in marriage to Permelia Smith September, 20, 1863. To this union were born ten children, eight boys, and two girls. Six sons, one daughter and wife survive him all being present at the funeral on Monday. Brother Branen united with the Christian Church at the age of twenty nine and we feel constrained to say that none lived a more true and consecrated Christian life than he. Mr. Branen served with country during the Civil War and his funeral was honored by the presence of the G.A.R. and the Ladies Relief Corps of the local camp.
