Born in Girard Township on Feb. 14, 1925, he was the son of the late Elmer C. and Edith (Shirey) Leigey.
A World War II Army veteran, he was a truck driver for E.M. Brown Inc. of Clearfield and was a member of the Kerr Addition United Methodist Church and Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
He is survived by his wife, the former Delores Jean Dixon, six children, Elwood Leigey II of Laurelville, Ohio; Richard Leigey, Jeffrey Leigey and Mrs. Randy (Mary)Luzier, all of Clearfield; Mrs. Philip (Linda) Whitesell of Benezette and Irene Leigey at home; 17 grandchildren and these brothers and sisters: Raymond Leigey, Milton Leigey, Mrs. Jessi (Elma) Picard, Mrs. Howard (Bernice) Condon, Mrs. C. George (Jo Ann) Sankey, Mrs. Harold (Janice) Homman and Mrs. Albert (Jackie)Dinsmore, all of Clearfield; Elmer C. Leigey Jr. of Woodland; and Mrs. Earl (Leona) Wooster of Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Pauline and Mabel, two brothers, Richard and Ronald, twin infant brother and sister and one grandson, Bobbie Lee Luzier.
The funeral will be held from the Leavy-Valigorsky Funeral Home Inc., 113 N. Third St., Clearfield, at 2 p.m. Saturday with Capt. Robert Thomas of the Clearfield Salvation Army officiating.
Interment will follow in Crown Crest Memorial Park, where the Clearfield VFW will conduct military graveside service.
Friends may call at the Leavy-Valigorsky Funeral Home Inc. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and until the hour of service on Saturday.
