Samuel was married three times, his first wife was Rebecca Thomas, born 1818 - died 1849, she was daughter of Andrew Thomas. They lived in Cumberland township, Adams County. I added an article from The Gettysburg Times dated June 17, 1987, pg.2 in the photo section that also confirms the three marriages. Photo 4 has a close up of the headstone.

1. Ann Elizabeth b. 1840, married David Heagy
2. Elias N., b 1843 - d 1865, Civil War Veteran, killed in the battle of Saylors Creek, Va.
3. Mary E., born 1845, married John E. Benner
4. Samuel M., b 1847 - d 1941
5. Jeremiah T., b 1849 - d 1912, married to Olive E. Plank

Children to second wife Elizabeth (Eliza) Unknown, she was born 1814 and died 1870, She is listed on the 1860 and 1870 census with husband Samuel.
1. William Alexander, b 1851
2. Laura Jane, b 1854 - d 1859

Samuel's 3rd. marriage was to Elizabeth Fidler, daughter of George and Hannah (Knipper) Fidler. She was born 1822 and died 1897, they had no children. She is listed on the 1880 census with husband Samuel. There was an 8 year age difference in the two Elizabeth wives', the first born 1814 and the second born 1822.
