Erastus came to Michigan in 1864 or shortly before. He could have been in the
Civil War from New York or Michigan.

New York, Town Clerks' Registers of Men Who Served in the Civil War, ca
1861-1865
Name: Erastus Cash
Enlistment Location: Leroy, Genesee, New York

His brother, Hiram F, lived in Richland, Michigan not too far away.

From the Stafford, New York newspaper February 25, 1913: "Gathering of
Relatives in Honor of Erastus Cash of Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Waterman
of Stafford entertained 23 relatives at their home on Saturday in honor of
Erastus Cash of Paw Paw, Michigan, a brother of Mrs. Waterman, Mrs. Mary
Whitcher and Mrs. A. H. White of Batavia and William Cash of Byron.
OBITUARY: The Courier-Northerner - "The third son of Benjamin Franklin and Lucy
(Deming) Cash was born in Stafford, N.Y., June 14, 1837, and passed from this
life January 7, 1922, having reached the age of eighty-four years, six months
and twenty-three days. His ealry life was spent with his father on the fine
Genesee county farm about eight miles east of Batavia. In his childhood he
fervently loved his brother and sisters and in his declining years this love
seemed to be intensified. Only two of these are now living, Mary Whitcher of
Batavia and Isabelle Waterman on the "Old Home Farm" in Stafford. At twenty-two
years of age he was married to Jennie Pierson of Leroy, N.Y. Having both heart
and credit, this young couple went in debt for a fine farm, well improved lying
just outside of Leroy. After operating this for five years, he sold out and
came to MI and bought what is now the Frank Labadie farm. In about two more
years the bride of his youth was taken away, leaving him with three little
girls, Jennie F., born on the farm at Leroy; Carrie H. and Lucy May, born on the
Paw Paw farm, the little daughter Lucy May soon followed her mother.

On March 11, 1868, Mr. Cash was married to Miss Cordelia Phillips of Decatur,
MI. This was a happy union, for "Dilly," as he always called her, was a loyal
wife and a mother to his little girls. To his joy there was born to them ____
26, 1869, Frankie Adelle, who preceded him to the better land.

In 1912 his wife, "Dilly" passed away. He loved his home here and he was
tendered for by his daughter, Mrs. C. Bowen, her husband and son Harry. He was
a member of the Paw Paw Baptist church, an honest, industrious, upright citizen.
He leaves a host of friends only a few remaining of those who, with him, were
members of the church of Paw Paw many years ago. His family who survive him are
grateful for the singers and kindnesses of neighbors. The funeral was held from
his late home and attended by a large concourse of neighbors and friends. Rev.
O. J. C. Woodman officiated at the service."

On August 26, 1867 Erastus Cash paid $10 for cemetery Lot #48 North, Ever Green
Cemetery, Paw Paw, Michigan. On February 20, 1901 Erastus paid $5 for Lot #5
Block 4, New Addition Lot 21 Block 4.
