He was born February 3, 1934, in Eustace to Fred Erwin and Lucille Kirkpatrick Abbott. He graudated from Eustace High School, attended Oakland Junior College in Oakland, California, and the University of California, and the University of California at Berkley. He was employed at Beckman Instruments in California. He served in the Army. He worked at LTV in Grand Prairie and resided in the Stanger Springs Community in Van Zandt County for 30 years. He received his BS degree from the University of Texas at Tyler and retired in 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Bo Abbott, Ben Wheeler; son, William Ervan Abbott, Indonesia; daughter, Catherine Ann Abbott, Florence, South Carolina; brothers, Eulan Abbott, Azle, Ivan Abbott, Fort Worth, and Dean Abbott, Saginaw.
