Verna Frances Burns was born June 25, 1905 in Rossville, Kans., and passed away at the John Brown Hospital in Siloam Springs February 22, 1940.

She was united in marriage to Luther Leroy Buffer, June 27, 1920. To this union five children were born, Charles Buffer and Margaret Crow of Girard, Kans. and Pearl, Delbert and Reece Buffer of the home.

She moved to her home west of Gravette, with her husband and children. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Naomi Boggs of Girard, and one brother, Edward Burns. Mrs. Nancy Jane Burns, preceded her in death 15 days.

Funeral services were held at the Gravette Christian Church, Sunday afternoon, conducted by James M. Hall of the Ozark Christian College at Bentonville. Burial was made in the Coffelt Cemetery under the direction of the Pyeatte Funeral Service. [Gravette Newspaper, Gravette, Benton County, Arkansas - February 22, 1940]
