George Edwin Armstrong, a retired sales representative for Portland General Electric, died July 25, 1996, two days before his 87th birthday.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, in Stehn's Milwaukie Funeral Home.

Mr. Armstrong was born July 27, 1909, in Portland where he lived most of his life. He was in the first graduating class of Grant High School in 1927 and attended Oregon State University for three years. He was in the U.S. Army in World War II, serving in Europe. He also was in the Army Reserve for 10 years, serving as an instructor at Vancouver Barracks in Vancouver, Wash.

He retired in 1969 after working for Portland General Electric for 35 years. He was a member of Central Bible Church in Portland.

Survivors include his wife, V. Loraine; daughter, Sally of Newberg; and four grandchildren.

A concluding service and private interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to Multnomah Bible College, or his church, in care of Stehn's Milwaukie Funeral Home

George Edwin Armstrong was the son of George Mongomery Armstrong of Saint John, NB, CA & Portland, Oregon & Myrtle Foster, of Fargo, North Dakota, and was the Grandson of George Armstrong & Adeline Kyle of Saint John, NB, Canada & Charles Foster and Lilly May Barber; and a Great Grandson of John Albert Kyle of Co. Tyrone, N. IRE & Sussex & Saint John, NB, CA & Woburn, MA, USA & his first wife Mary (whose maiden name is at current unknown); and a Great Great Grandson of William Kyle and Mary Cooper of Co. Tyrone N. IRE and Sussex, NB, CA; and a 3rd Great Grandson of Widow Marjorie (maiden name unkn) Cooper of Co. Tyrone, N. IRE and Sussex, NB, CA.
