James (Jim) Doyle passed peacefully on August 25, 2008. Jim was born on December 9, 1918 to John and Rose Doyle in Reno, NV. Growing up in Reno, he attended Southside School and graduated from Reno High School, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He went on to play on the Nevada State champion baseball team, the Silver Whites. At the age of 24, Jim went to the Italian theatre to fight for his country during the Second World War. He was awarded two purple hearts for bravery in combat. After serving three years overseas, Jim returned to Reno and to his work at Chism Ice Cream Company. He began working on the loading docks and quickly worked his way up to the position of mix-master for the company. While working at Chism, he met the love of his life, Joan MacDonald. They were married on October 2, 1954, and were blessed to have two daughters, Peggy and Maureen. At age 60, Jim left the Chism/Carnation Company, and went to work for the Washoe County Road Department. Jim was member of the Little Flower Catholic Church, and loved to fish, hunt, and especially, to ski.

Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Mickey, and his sisters, Mary and Nellie. Jim will always be in the heart of his wife, Joan Doyle; daughters, Peggy Gant and Maureen Kossol; sons-in-law, Chris Gant and Kevin Kossol; grandchildren, A.J. Kossol, Riley Kossol, Alicia Gant, and Alex Gant; nephews, Billy Teglia and Johnny Doyle and niece, Sharon Wilson.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Community, 5650 Vista Blvd., Sparks, NV, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Interment will follow at Sierra Memorial Gardens, Reno.

The family would like to thank Debbie and Robin, and all the wonderful caregivers at Golden Years Castle II for all their loving assistance during his final years. We request that those wishing to remember Jim do so by making a donation in his name to their favorite charity. Arrangements are entrusted to O'Brien-Rogers & Crosby Funeral Home, Reno.
