Sands Baker,a school teacher from the mid-west, arrived in Visalia in September of 1860, dabbled in mining,teaching and eventually raised cattle, horses and hay on about 2,000 acres that he had accumulated over the years. The Dunlap Cemetery is on his property located on Sans Baker Rd. (The misspelling of his name was accidental and the heirs saw no reason to change it after all this time)

Married to Sarah "Sallie" Drake on Oct. 13 1872 in Visalia. They had eight children.
