JOSEPH LONG, RETIRED RAILROADER, SUCCUMBS
Joseph C. Long, a railroad man for nearly three-quarters of his life, died yesterday at 91.
He suffered a heart attack at his home last week.
A native of Frankfort, Ky., the retired passenger gang supervisor for Sante Fe Railway resided in San Bernardino for 62 years.
He and his bride of nine months, the former Mrs. Anna Headly, resided at 679 14th St. They were married last December.
Long began working on the railroad in Kansas when he was 16. he later was general car foreman in Needles for 10 years and then transferred to San Bernardino. He retired in November 1937.
He was a member of Phoenix Lodge, No. 178 F&AM and the Keystone Chapter of the Valley Council No. 27 R&SM and the First Baptist Church of San Bernardino.
Surviving are his widow, Anna C. Long; a daughter, Mrs. B. F. Williams, San Bernardino; a brother, Sydney T. Long, Tulsa, Okla.; a half-sister, Mrs. William Todson, Los Angeles, four grandchildren and nine grandchildren. He leaves a niece in San Bernardino, Mrs. T. C. Gingrich.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Stephens & Bobbitt Chapel, with Phoenix Lodge No. 178, F&AM in charge. a Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery.
