Daniel joined the Union in Greenville Tenn. He was traveling through Harmony Valley with 2 other men (Sentell, James Lewis buried at Hooker-Moore cemetery which was Laurel Creek Baptist Church now in DuPont State Forest near Hooker Falls. The other one is buried off Evans Rd. in Henderson Co.) when they met Rebel soldiers in this area. They were shot here and buried at this church. It was told that Daniel ask to be able to pray before they shot them. Later the other men were moved by family members, one to a cemetery near Hooker Falls and the other to a cemetery off Evans rd. both in Henderson county. Daniels wife did not have the money (so it was said) to move him. Daniel was survived by his wife ,sons and one daughter Elizabeth A listed on Widows claim for Pension, May 15, 1869.
