Gene D. Callison, 73, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Barnett, died Friday, Sept. 22, 1995 at his summer home in Payson, Ariz. He was born Nov. 10, 1921 at Eldon, the son of Everett and Hattie Nail Callison. He was married on July 25, 1942 to Flossie Strange, who survives at the home.

Mr. Callison was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and was appointed Postmaster at Barnett where he served for 25 years before retiring in 1979. HE was a decorated World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. He was a member of the Barnett Masonic Lodge #591 AF and AM, the Barnett OES Chapter #303, and the Barnett Union Church.

Survivors include his wife, Flossie Callison; two sons, Michael G. Callison of Barnett and Steve H. Callison of Eldon; one daughter, Jennie Westerfield of Savage, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one soon-to-be great-grandchild, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jewell Callison.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 1995 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with the Rev. Eldon Myers officiating. Military Honors and burial were in the Greenmore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Barnett. Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans.
