Killed during a robbery by Eugenio Aragon and Antonio Gonzales. Aragon and Gonzales were sentenced to hang. Aragon committed suicide while in jail and Gonzales was executed on September 24, 1896 by Sheriff C. W. Haynes. This was the only legal execution ever in Chaves County. It took place on the the now current Chaves County Courthouse lawn.
