FILLMON, Marleyne E.
Born December 13, 1934 in Bowmanstown, PA, to James and Ardella Engle, passed away peacefully September 2, 2008 in Sacramento, CA. A long-time resident of Vacaville, CA, she is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Gerald L. Fillmon. She is survived by her three daughters: Debra Roe of Aromas, CA, Kathy Abell of Anchorage, AK and Sandra Lawson of Sacramento, CA, Sons-in-law: Michael Roe and David Lawson, Grandchildren Kevin Roe (Crystal), Kimberly Clifton (Scott), Nicholas Abell, Brandi Abell, Jennifer Lawson and Danielle Lawson, Great-grandchildren: Alexis Revelez, Summer Roe, Kai Clifton, Kevin Roe, Jr, and Natasha Clifton, Sisters: Eileen Engle-Chamberlain of Limerick, Pa, and Suzanne Nagy (Stephen) of Palmerton, PA.

Marleyne graduated in 1955 from Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing and began a long career in nursing. In 1956, she was commissioned as a 2Lt in the USAF Nurse Corp. She met her husband, Gerald, while stationed at Fairchild AFB, Washington. She began her civil service career in 1958, working at many different base hospitals, including the hospital at Torrejon AFB in Spain from 1960-1962. In 1966, her family was transferred to Travis AFB, where she continued and completed her civil service nursing position at David Grant Medical Center. After 32 years of night shift duty, she retired in December of 1998. Throughout her years in Vacaville, she was an active parent in Girl Scouts, PTA, and the Community Presbyterian Church.

Marleyne was an avid reader, music lover and sports fan. She enjoyed watching football, basketball and baseball. In the recent years she became a great fan and supporter of girls' soccer and traveled extensively with her two youngest grandchildren to their many competitive soccer tournaments and games. Diagnosed in May with rare cancer of the heart, she knew she had just a short time left on this earth. She lived it to the fullest, traveling to LA, the Bay Area and enjoying life as much as possible. She always had a warm smile or hug for you, and she was a truly caring person. Family was extremely important to her and she felt very blessed. Fondly known as Mrs. Fillmon, she was quite a remarkable lady and will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., September 8, 2008 at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery, 522 Elmira Rd, Vacaville, CA
