Merrill C. Cantonwine passed away peacefully at his home on September 2, 2008 of kidney failure. He resided at 5137 West Eagle Rock Way (3110 South) in West Valley City, Utah at the time of his death.

He was born on April 14, 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alfred Shirley and Nellie Mae Bills Cantonwine. He was the second of six children. He married Darlene Selma Bohn on November 1, 1940; the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in August of 1954. Graduated from West High School, served in the US Navy for two years and retired from United Airlines after 42 years of service. Was a member of the LDS church and served in the Jordan River Temple for 13 years.

Survived by his four children: Calvin (Carolyn), Judy (Clair) Anderson, Richard (Fran) and Michael, 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grand children and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, parents, five brothers and sisters and two grandsons.

Graveside Services will held on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah. Friends may call on Friday, September 5, 2008 from 6-8 at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South and on Saturday one hour prior to the services at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary.
