They named her for her mother Josephine & the ship SS Amphritrite they were sailing on. Children born to Joseph & Josephine (Sofia Maria) used this spelling of their surname, AFFANTRANGER. Joseph was issued the first permit to open the first licensed tavern in Crawford County, PA. He's buried in St. Agatha Cemetery, Meadville, PA.
