"James R. Yearwood is the son of Elijah Yearwood and Prudence Morrow Yearwood. James was born about 1839 in Monroe County, TN. In the CSA army he was at Pea Ridge, AR, Corinth and Iuka, MS, and at the seige of Port Hudson, LA. He survived Port Hudson by swimming the river and walking back to Clarksville with a battle flag wrapped around his body. He was killed 01 Dec 1863 at Clarksville by local Union forces."
