James Jacobson Allred, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in the care of his wife and loving companion of 52 years on August 29, 2008 after a long valiant battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
James was born January 6, 1932 to Matthias and Rowena Allred in Fountain Green, Utah. He married Dawn Gadd on May 4, 1956 in the Manti LDS Temple. James served his country in Germany and Austria during the Korean conflict from 1953-1955. He graduated from BYU with a teaching degree in 1957. He taught school in Nephi, Salt Lake City, Fountain Green, Moroni, and Mt. Pleasant. James was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. James and Dawn served a mission for the LDS church from 1989-1990 in the Peoria Chicago Illinois Mission, and an eight year LDS Family Home Evening mission at the Central Utah Correctional Facility in Gunnison, Utah. He held many church callings during his life, including that of a temple worker which he held until the last few months before his death. James truly had three loves during his life. He loved the Lord, he loved his family, and he loved his county. All of which he served with all his heart.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn and their children, Scott (Billie) Allred, Bountiful, Utah; Kathleen (Sheldon) Ernstsen, Salt Lake City, Utah; Annalisa (Jeff) Nelson, Piedmont, Oklahoma; Heidi Allred, Fountain Green, Utah; Angela (Troy) Jensen, Fountain Green, Utah; Joni (Eric) Olsen, Brigham City, Utah, eighteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother, Calvin (Rita) Allred, Fountain Green, Utah; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of who will miss his love, humor, advice and support. James was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Cook and Ethelyn Bailey.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Fountain Green LDS Ward Chapel (200 West 100 South) in Fountain Green, Utah. A viewing for Family and Friends will be held on Friday, September 5, 2008 at the Fountain Green Church and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the Church.
Interment will be in the Fountain Green City Cemetery under the care of Rasmussen Mortuary, with Full Military Rites accorded by the American Legion Post 107.
