Clara E. Brighton -- St. Charles

ST. CHARLES -- A funeral Mass for Clara E. Brighton will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, with the Rev. Caesar Dralega officiating.

Mrs. Brighton, 92, of St. Charles, a former Kahler Corp. employee, died Wednesday morning (Dec. 27, 2000) at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.

Clara E. Burke was born Sept. 7, 1908, in Witoka, Minn., and graduated from New Richland, Minn., High School. She was a beautician in her sisters' shop in Staples, Minn., and later worked for the Kahler Corp. in Rochester. On April 11, 1934, she married John R. Brighton in Rochester, and they lived in St. Charles most of their married lives. Mr. Brighton died Nov. 10, 1970. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Doug (Lois) of Fridley, Minn.; a daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Hilke of St. Charles; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Madonna Kelley of La Mesa, Calif. Seven sisters and three brothers also preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Hoff Funeral Home's St. Charles Chapel where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Rochester Post Bulletin, 12/28/2000.
