Edward McKinley Parrott was born July 29, 1907, the son of Robert Samuel Parrott, Sr. and Nancy "Nannie" Ann Barber Parrott. He was the last child born to this couple. He had six older brothers and sisters and two half-sisters and two half-brothers. He was the grandson of Noah Tyre McKinsey and Mary Nichols Parrott, and William M. and Margaret Ann McCarter Barber. Edward never married. He died on May 05, 1977, in Gastonia, NC, at his home of myocardial infarction, due to coronary disease. He loved to grow flowers and enjoyed that until his death.
