He received his military training at Camp Forest, Tenn., in Arizona, Camp Phillips, Kan., and Fort Dix, N.J. He was a Sgt in General Patton's Third Army and died in action in Germany while performing his duties in the service of his country.
Besides his mother, he leaves his grandmother, Mrs. Theressa Campbell of Ames, a brother, Calvin Edson of Durham, and a sister, Mrs. Thelma Kelly of Richmond, Calif. He leaves other relatives and many friends.
