Memorial services for T/S Melvin H. Edson of the 319th Infantry, who was killed in action February 20,1945 in Germany, will be held in the Methodist church at Ames this afternoon at 3 o'clock.(March 11,1945) Rev. John Morgan will officiate.
The son of Elmer T. and Alice Edson of Ames, he was born at Lone Wolf on September 25,1921 and attended school at Mangum and Ames. He received his military training at Camp Forest, Tenn., in Arizona, Camp Phillips, Kan., and Fort Dix, N.J. He was a Sgt in General Patton's Third Army and died in action in Germany while performing his duties in the service of his country.

Besides his mother, he leaves his grandmother, Mrs. Theressa Campbell of Ames, a brother, Calvin Edson of Durham, and a sister, Mrs. Thelma Kelly of Richmond, Calif. He leaves other relatives and many friends.
