Carroll W. Muck, 84, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2008 at his residence in Franklin. He was born on December 23, 1923 in Shelby County to Frank and Loretta (Williams) Muck.

He married Julia Carvin on December 24, 1942. She preceded him in passing in 1965. He later married Georgia Smith in 1970. She currently resides in Georgia.

Other survivors include 3 children, Linda A. Emerick (Wray), David L. Muck (Linda) both of rural Edinburgh in Shelby Co, Brenda R. Runyon (Donald) of Morristown, In; 5 grandchildren, Dee A. Goble (Jace), Jennifer L. Muck, Michael F. Muck (Sunshine) all of rural Edinburgh, Jeanne A. Correll (Curt) of rural Shelbyville, Julia F. Runyon of Morristown, In; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Muck graduated from Mt. Auburn High School where he was a 4-year varsity member of the basketball team which won the only Shelby Co. Basketball Tournament in the school's history. He and his wife owned and operated a dairy and grain farm for 23 years.

In 1965 Mr. Muck and family members formed Hillrow, Inc. where he was president and co- owner. Farming and the sales and custom application of fertilizer and chemicals occupied the first few years of the business, but for 16 years Hillrow, Inc. specialized in the sales and construction of commercial elevator and farm grain installations.

Mr. Muck was the designer/draftsman and managed elevator and commercial sales throughout Indiana. He retired in 1989 but later opened a custom woodworking shop, The Woodcraft Shoppe, in southern Johnson Co. He operated the store for 11 years. Carroll Muck was a Charter Fireman and Director of the Marietta Community Volunteer Fire Department which organized in 1954. He was one of the board members involved in the formation of the school district and building of Southwestern Consolidated High School in Shelby County that opened in the fall of 1958. Mr. Muck also was later elected Hendricks Township Trustee. He was honored to serve on the Dealer Advisory Board of Superior Manufacturing Company of Mattoon, Ill whose grain bin line he sold for many years.

He was a past member of the Edinburgh Lions Club; He was a member of the Jollity United Methodist Church.
