Obituary
J E Delozier was born in St Clair County, Missouri, October 28, 1850; died March 20, 1921, at his home near Hortense, where he had lived for fourty-one years. He was married to Alabama Julian, February 18, 1869. To this union nine children were born, four girls and five boys; four having died before their father. Five are living, four sons and one daughter, as follows: Mary Raney, George, Willie, Joe and Ray, all living near, and were at his bedside when he died. Deceased was the son of James and Jane Delozier, of a family of twelve children, four girls and eight boys; nine of them still living. He professed faith in Christ at an early age and united with the Baptist Church at Tebo, to which he remained true until death. When able, he was ever in his place, ready for every good word and work, but for the last nine years he had been an invalid; not being able to feed himself, but his faithful companion was ever near him, and with tender care never failed to minister to all his needs, but now her work is done and she is left alone in this cold world to mourn her absent love. It won't be long; a few days of waiting, until there will be a reunion, where there will be no invalids. Then wife and children cheer up, trust God, believe in Jesus and be also ready, for we know not the day nor hour when He comes. The remains were taken to his dear old church, Monday, where funeral services were conducted, after which the body was tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery nearby.
